Next time you see a Katsura, smell the leaves. As they turn colour they produce malt sugar or maltose that smells like cotton candy. And they are one of the best leaves to topdress your garden beds with.
My latest project is trying to beautify the Blvd in front of my house with free plants. I’ve already moved everything three times as every specimen is sub standard. More plants will be rescued on Monday to begin filling the space to the right of the gate. Waiting for the bulbs to come up still. Also an experiment as I planted them in early March. Not to mention the coating of mold. Some tulips that I planted around the same time are coming up in the window boxes. Sweet! Only time will tell and I’m not impressed so far.
